D&G Autocare has had a lot of media interest recently in their trademark battle with Dolce & Gabbana.
Following their application to register their trademark in October D & G Autocare were most surprised when a notice of “threatened opposition” was lodged by Dolce & Gabbana. Apparently Dolce & Gabbana have registered their trademark across 12 different trademark classes including vehicle and vehicle parts.
D & G Auto care battled the giant using Fife law firm Young & Partners, and came out victorious, a triumphant day indeed for two Fife businesses.
It is great to see D & G secure what is rightfully theirs and a well known brand identity across Scotland. We will all now view the logo with an even greater respect.
A similar story has emerged in England where a small pub in Southampton called The Hobbit has been threatened with closure if they do not change their name. The fact that they have operated under that name for 20 years does not stand up to Hollywood’s bullying.
