Unless you've been living on Mars the last few months you can't fail to have noticed that work has started on the new Forth crossing.
The new bridge is scheduled to be ready for 2016 and will no doubt improve matters for those of us who regularly make the journey over to Edinburgh. I do have a gripe though. I find myself disappointed to find that rather than sourcing materials from the UK the caissons have been sourced from Poland and the decking is coming from Spain and China. Do we not produce these items in the UK? Could we not have supported our homegrown businesses even if it did cost a smidgen more?
Certainly one thing is for sure all eyes will be on the the bridge as it's constructed as there will be web cams focused on the bridge to monitor the entire construction.
