Thought I would write a series of blogs about my experiences becoming self-employed and setting up Ask Girl Friday.
I'll be totally frank and honest with you I've found the whole experience both exciting and terrifying on many levels. I've been astounded at the amount of unpaid hours a self-employed person can work, especially in the early days of setting up the business and the number of new skills you need to learn just to keep costs down.
So how did Ask Girl Friday come about? I'd love to be able to tell you something really sensible here but I feel I'll probably fail on that count. I had been a stay at home Mum for a few years, keeping a hand in assisting my husband with his business and my friend, Tina had just been made redundant and had a burning desire to be an entrepreneur. The day Ask Girl Friday was conceived, so to speak, I had been out with my family and had that fatal glass of wine at lunchtime causing me to be full of great ideas, on this occasion however I think it probably was a great idea. I realised that between us Tina and I had most of the office skills covered and going into business together was the obvious next step.
I knew running a business would be a challenge but it has been more of a challenge than I was expecting!
I am married with two boys and three dogs. I enjoy going the gym to get away from them all. I am a Legal Secretary by trade and the co owner of Ask Girl Friday (PA, VA, Secretary for Hire).
