Aldershot and Farnborough face dinosaur invasion!

Watch out! A roar-some dinosaur invasion is heading for Aldershot and Farnborough over the weekend of August 18 and 19 – though these ones might be a little friendlier than the real thing!

During these two days of free prehistoric fun, visitors will be able to meet Reggae Rex, an amazing animatronic T Rex, who will be roaring and stomping his way around both town centres, and may even pose for a photograph or two!

When Reggae Rex is not around, families can meet a baby Triceratops called Kota, look at dinosaur models and join in the fun on a sand dig, digging and brushing away sand to reveal some wonderful fossils. Over at an arts and craft table, children can draw and colour in their own dinosaur.

Dino Man will be around to talk about all things Dinosaur and to show visitors some fantastic real and replica fossils.

Families can also take a walk on the wild side with a Dinosaur Adventure Hunt around the town centre shops, by picking up a free trail from the activities tent. Successful young explorers will be treated to a small gift and entered into a prize draw to win a family ticket to The Gruffalo’s Child at Princes Hall.

You can meet Reggae Rex and the rest of the gang in Aldershot town centre on Saturday, 18 August and in Farnborough on Sunday, 19 August, between 10am and 4pm. After the success of ‘Jurassic Park: Fallen Kingdom’, which was filmed down the road in nearby in Minley, this is bound to be a popular event!

The events are being organised by Rushmoor Borough Council, as part of its ongoing commitment to  providing great family entertainment in both town centres in the summer, and follow on from a very successful Playfest! event in Aldershot on Saturday, 4 August.

Councillor Liz Corps, Events and Civic Pride Cabinet Champion at Rushmoor Borough Council, said:

“What child is not fascinated by dinosaurs at some time – I know mine were! Rushmoor is so proud to have secured these Dinosaur Invasion events and I know they will be a big hit with visitors of all ages and there will be lots of interest in meeting Reggae Rex, Kota and Dino Man. We know that families are looking for things to do in the summer holidays and it’s great we can provide something fun with a difference that will encourage people into our town centres.”
