Phyllis Tuckwell’s Dash of Colour is a hugely popular 5k fun run which will take place at Frimley Lodge Park on Saturday 2nd September at 1pm, and is the perfect way to raise money for local hospice care, with its rainbow of powder paints symbolising the colour which Phyllis Tuckwell brings to the lives of its patients and their families.

Every day Phyllis Tuckwell provides medical and nursing care, therapies, counselling, social work advice and practical support to over 250 patients, relatives and carers in West Surrey and North East Hampshire. They offer expert advice on pain relief, help patients retain their independence, and teach techniques to ease anxiety – but they also support relatives and carers too, as they understand that a terminal illness affects not only the patient, but the whole family.

Register now to secure your spot and you’ll receive a pack which will include suggestions on how to get your fundraising started and a freeDash t-shirt for you to wear on the day. It might start off white, but as you walk, jog or run the 5k route, you will be showered with colourful powder paint at each kilometre mark, turning both you and your t-shirt a rainbow of colours!

Since it was launched in 2014, Dash of Colour has raised over £194,000, a huge sum of money which could fund our Hospice Care at Home (HCAH) team for around three months, enabling our nurses to visit our patients who have chosen to die at home, instead of in hospital or at the Hospice. Our HCAH nurses care for around 45 patients every month, and their specially trained nurses provide not only compassionate nursing care and symptom management, but also a great deal of emotional support to both patients and their families.

“We’re thrilled that Dash has proved so popular since we launched it nearly three years ago,” said Gemma Craig, Events Fundraising Manager at Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care. “It’s such a fun event and has raised so much money to support the vital care which we offer to local patients and families who are living with a terminal illness. As the NHS/Government only covers 20% of our costs, we have to raise over £20,000 a day to be able to offer all our services, which are given free of charge to our patients and their families, and fundraising events such as Dash are instrumental in helping us to achieve this. We would also like to thank our headline sponsors Cane Adam and Morrisons Solicitors, along with our other sponsors Barons Farnborough, Branston Adams, project five and Red Mist Leisure, whose support is very much appreciated.”

Registration is £18 and can be completed online at www.pth.org.uk or by calling PTHC’s Fundraising team on 01252 729446.
