Proposal for Fleet to become a Business Improvement District
5th February 2016

Businesses in Fleet are being invited to a meeting on Tuesday 9 February at The Harlington to discuss what becoming a Business Improvement District (BID) could mean for Fleet.

Businesses will have the opportunity to hear what BIDs have delivered for other towns locally and to get involved in shaping what a BID could deliver in Fleet.

Some of the ways a BID could make improvements include:

  • Better marketing & promotion of the town
  • More events and other achievable projects to increase footfall
  • Allowing local businesses to take the lead on improving the town
  • Having the strength of a united voice for town centre businesses, negotiating better deals for businesses
  • Increased business support

The initiative was started by Fleet Business Forum, a group of local businesses who were looking for ways to increase footfall in Fleet and raise the profile of the town as a place for business to thrive and for people to want to visit.

“We really do want as many Fleet businesses as possible to come to this meeting and have their say on what they would like to make Fleet a vibrant place that helps their businesses to thrive. BIDs have been established in over 200 places across the UK and have been an incredibly successful as a way to deliver additional services and make improvements to a town as a place to do business, work, shop, eat or visit. said Emma Molyneux, Chair of the Fleet Business Forum.
