Sunday 6th August sees the return of the ever-popular White Dove Collectors Transport Show, held in support of local Hospice Care charity Phyllis Tuckwell. Over 300 veteran, vintage and classic cars, motorcycles and commercial vehicles will be on show, so if you’re a vehicle enthusiast, this one’s for you!
The show will be held at Kingsley Sports Ground, on Sickles Lane, near Bordon (GU35 9PD) and will start at 11am. As well as a wide range of impressive vehicles, it will also include live music, an auto jumble, trade stands, refreshments, a bar, a barbecue and a tombola.
Fundraising events such as this are very important to Phyllis Tuckwell, as the money they raise enables the charity to pay for vehicles and equipment which directly help its work, caring for patients and families across West Surrey and North East Hampshire who are living with a terminal illness, such as cancer. Last year the White Dove Collectors Transport Show raised over £12,000, which has been used to pay for a new vehicle – a Peugeot Partner – which is being modified to accept wheelchairs. It is expected to arrive at the Hospice in August and will be used to transport patients to and from Day Hospice, the Beacon Centre and Outpatient appointments. Vehicles such as this, which are driven by PTHC’s volunteers, are hugely important to the charity and those it cares for, as without them some patients would not be able to access the care which they receive at the Hospice and Beacon Centre from PTHC’s doctors, nurses, therapists, counsellors and social work advisors, or socialise with the other patients there
