First introduced under the direction of the Ministry of Transport 1960, the MOT (not to be confused with the MOTMOT, which is actually a tree-dwelling bird from South America!) has changed little over the years, but the central point still remains. You cannot drive your vehicle on the road if your MOT has expired. No excuses, apart if you are actually driving to the test centre, although how you prove this to the nice Traffic Officer is anyone’s guess.
Care is needed is choosing which of the 20,000, and then some, garages authorized to conduct tests and issue certificates, to trust with your pride and joy. Opened in 1989, Yateley MOT Centre, which is convenient for both Farnborough andAldershot, is fully approved by the Vehicle and Operators Standard Agency (VOSA). Additionally, Yateley are members of a number of trades and business related federations and, even more importantly, has recently garnered a ‘highly recommended’ award, by thebestof Aldershotand Farnborough.
Expect an honest, reliable service at this local, well established garage. As well as highly professional car testing procedures by qualified technicians, they offer welcome extras such as free tyre and exhaust checks, and if you live close enough, they can also collect your vehicle and deliver it back to you. And then you can relax, knowing your vehicle is in a fully MOT-compliant state for another 12 months.
Remember, the MOT is not the same as having you vehicle serviced; only road safety features are checked so don't rely on it to keep your car in good overall condition. However Yateley MOT Centre also provide servicing for most makes and manufacturers, and can sincerely offer a reduction on main dealer service prices. So don’t forget to book an appointment soon, and drive safely…!
