The Gloucestershire-based Lydbrook Band is starring in the new National Lottery Christmas advert. The National Lottery funded band, which celebrated its 90th anniversary this year, is a championship brass band based in the Forest of Dean.

In the National Lottery's Christmas advert, it performs a seasonal rendition of Gilbert O'Sullivan's 'Ooh-Wakka-Do-Wakka-Day'. The first airing of the band's performance in the TV advert was on December 14.

Robert Morgan, from Lydbrook Band, said: "The band was totally involved with the Lottery advert. Our first experience was the sound recordings in the Lydbrook Band room when we performed the special Christmas song arrangement, which was followed by a visit to St Albans for the filming. We all enjoyed being film stars for the day and to experience the Christmas atmosphere".

The band which has received over £9,900 of lottery funding, will highlight how The National Lottery not only benefits winners, but also the 420,000-plus projects across the UK that have been supported by National Lottery players. Jackie O'Sullivan, spokesperson from The National Lottery, said: "Every time you buy a National Lottery ticket, you are helping brilliant projects like Lydbrook Band. Thanks to National Lottery players, an astounding £30 billion has been raised for a huge range of projects nationwide since The National Lottery launched in 1994. No matter what your interests, The National Lottery funds something for everyone."
