Saving money on your home extension is something we all want to do. Good project management is one sure way to do this as the following example shows.
A self employed web designer told us that he had recently completed a single storey extension – he was very familiar with building works as his parents had run a building firm prior to retirement.
The work was due to cost £48k and take 8 weeks to complete. The final bill came to £78k and the project took 16 weeks to be finished. Even more critically, he lost a total of 3 working weeks through time spent on site trying to resolve issues – this meant that he had lost money he could have been earning and created a huge amount of stress for his business.
