Butterfly House
Jo Woolf explained that the new community day hospice will be known as Butterfly House.
The symbol of the butterfly has been chosen because it represents change, hope, joy, endurance, transformation, re-birth and life. The Greek word for butterfly is psyche, the very same word the Greeks use for soul. Jo said, “We would like our new hospice to be a place that supports people through transformation in their lives, a change that is life affirming.
The South Bucks Community Hospice’s ’strapline’ will become; Care, Comfort and Support. Jo Woolf continued: “We want everyone to understand what our charity provides and we feel that ‘Care, Comfort and Support’ succinctly captures this.”
Stokenchurch based Tank2 design carried out the image update for The South Buckinghamshire Community Hospice. Tank2 founder and design lead Warren Kerley said: “We are delighted to assist such an important community organisation. This is a new era for The South Bucks Community Hospice and the perfect time to update its look. We wanted to respect the hospice’s heritage while bringing this new era to life.”
The new name and look will gradually be phased in as the hospice prepares for its official opening in September this year.
About The South Buckinghamshire Community Hospice
The South Bucks Community Hospice is a charity based at Butterfly House in High Wycombe. It receives less than 3% of its funding from statutory sources.
The South Bucks Community Hospice is a leading community resource for supporting patients living with life-limiting illnesses. It offers patient-centred care to individuals through the provision of specialist palliative, psychotherapeutic and Lymphoedema care. It also supports families and their carers.
Originally established in 1984, The South Bucks Community Hospice offers a pioneering and new kind of hospice care. This care is designed to meet the societal changes we face, mainly people living longer.
As the only palliative day hospice in South Buckinghamshire, it serves over 320,000 people. By the middle of 2018, it is projected that 650 to 800 people a month will be cared for at Butterfly House.
