Local Broker Supports Local Charity with Local Walk
2nd March 2012

As part of their support for local charities, Cass-Stephens Insurances three directors, James Cass,  Matt Cass and Paul Baldwin are doing a 100 mile walk in aid of The Spring Centre;  an independent local charity who provide care and support to young people and children with disabilities.

The walk itself, The Gloucestershire Way, is  a 100 mile path that snakes its way through the county from the border at Chepstow, across to Stow on the Wold and back to Tewkesbury.     The route, of course, takes in all the major hills in the county and is supposed to take just 8 days!

Wheelchair lift Option £9000

Cass-Stephens hope to raise at least £3,000 towards a much-needed new wheel chair life for The Spring Centre. The lift will enable some of their members to access the facilities that are only available upstairs.

Matt Cass who has walked the Cotswold Way before (another 100 mile walk which took him just 7 days), said:

“It will be hard work.  It is not easy going as we will be walking over most of the hills in Gloucestershire but it is a lovely county and some of the views will be breathtaking;  so it will be worthwhile in the end and it’s for a very worthy charity.”

The Spring Centre started life at Gloucester Royal Hospital as a support group for parents whose babies had been diagnosed with special needs or profound/multiple disabilities.  Over the years the support group has expanded and moved on from the hospital to become an independent charity that runs numerous facilities to help support the children including pre school, after school, holiday clubs and even coffee morning to give the parents a well deserved break to relax and meet up with other parents of special needs children.

If anyone would like to sponsor us, please visit our just giving page http://www.justgiving.com/Cass-StephensInsurances or alternatively you can text your donation to 70070 then Code CASS98 and actual donation i.e. £1

All donations will be gratefully received and will make a difference to someone who needs it

The walk will commence on the 12th May and is expected to take 8 days.
