We all know that Christmas shopping can test the patience. Busy stores and the looming deadline of the big day can sometimes lead to a bit of pushing and jostling in the shops. Elsewhere, there were reports of fighting and near-rioting breaking out amongst crowds of shoppers.

You see, yesterday – the day after Thanksgiving – saw the traditional start of the Christmas shopping frenzy in the United States. In fact, half of the country’s entire population is expected to hit the shops this weekend. And if early signs are anything to go by, it’s going to be a bumper year for retailers.
