Not forgetting Grantham's deaf children

This is really good news for Grantham and Lincolnshire. GDCS has been set up by inspirational couple Matt and Kim Sherwood to provide families with deaf or hearing impaired children in Grantham and throughout Lincolnshire with support, information and help.

This is something close to my heart as members of my family have struggled with deaf awareness and certainly when they were younger there was very little help to be found.

Matt and Kim have set up twice monthly get togethers at Swingbridge Children's Centre, Trent Road, Grantham where children can play, interact and build confidence. the parents of children can get together, chat informally and exchange experiences and information. They meet on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of every month.

GDCS is affiliated with the NDCS (registered charity) and supported by LCC and SKC. This gives the group access to many professionals.

There are a number of events about to take place which will feature on thebestofgranthams events listings.

If you want to know a little more about this support group for deaf children then we will be working iwth GDCS to upload information on to the site. In the meantime I extend a warm welcome to Matt and Kim who moved from Essex a few years ago and you can get more information by emailing gdcs@sky.com
