The Sopranos meets Twitter

This case has Social Media written all over it!
Not usually known for their small talk and social skills, FBI agents have turned to social media to help track down one of their 10 most wanted fugitives.

The 81-year-old mobster (a real-life Tony Soprano, although perhaps not quite as endearing), who’s wanted on 19 counts of murder, racketeering, drug dealing and money laundering, is on the run with his 60-year-old girlfriend, having been hunted by the FBI since 1999. Apparently, he has a love of libraries and history (just don’t tell him to ‘shhh’ in the reading room) and she loves animals, especially dogs.

Having tried all the usual techniques - including offering a whopping $2 million reward – the men in black have now turned to Twitter, Facebook and You Tube to get their man.

Now, that’s a real sign of the times, isn’t it? I can’t imagine Federal Agent Jack Bauer Tweeting when on a case… (@agentjackbauer – this day is never-ending)!

For those who want to follow FBI activity on Twitter, you can here. For Facebook fans, you can ‘like’ the FBI here.

The original news story can be seen on the Washington Post website here.

If Social Media can help the FBI catch criminals, I bet it can help you catch new customers!
