We at DNA are thrilled to announce our shortlisting as finalists in the Xero Awards Midsize Firm category. This momentous achievement represents not just recognition but a celebration of our journey, commitment, and the innovative strides we’ve taken in transforming accounting practice in the Channel Islands.

Our story begins with humble origins; two like-minded individuals seeking a better way of working using online tech and efficiencies. Initially with a focus on improving work life balance it quickly became evident that this goal would benefit all businesses. DNA evolved in this way from de garis accounting (2014) and Nimbus Accounting (2016), with our strategic merger in 2022.

The journey has been driven by a vision to become the leading Channel Islands Xero Practice, a dream realised by achieving Platinum Partner status in 2022, marking us as the Channel Islands’ sole Platinum Partner.

We are delighted to be shortlisted for this award as we feel that it has recognised our commitment to leveraging cloud technology to enhance business efficiency, sustainability, and profitability.

Knowledge Sharing at the Heart of Our Practice

Our ethos centres on the value of collective learning. Attending Xerocon has become a cornerstone of our culture, fostering enthusiasm and sparking innovative ideas within our team.

We pride ourselves on our classroom learning sessions, offered three to four times a year, which not only empower our staff and inspire attendees but also encourage invaluable collaboration amongst business owners.   We train at least 120 individuals on Xero each year.

We face unique challenges in Guernsey. One notable hurdle is the inconsistent adoption of open banking by high street banks and limited payment platform options. We are collaborating with Xero, government, banks, and other stakeholders to eliminate these barriers. Our vision is a Guernsey where businesses can fully tap into technological advancements in accounting, fostering community-wide growth and prosperity.

Xero Ecosystem: The Catalyst for Transformation

Our merger in 2022 served as a pivotal moment for our practice, prompting a comprehensive review and transformation of our processes. By embracing automation, refining our app stack, and streamlining our operations, we have enhanced efficiency and significantly improved the client experience.

Our bespoke approach to client service is underpinned by a carefully curated list of apps and a dedication to understanding each client’s unique needs. This allows us to transform business models towards sleeker, more efficient, and automated operations.

We have turned our app stack into wall art in our offices.  We use this to explain how we work, to inspire and create a vision of how we transform businesses from tedious admin to automation heaven.

As you would expect, numerous Xero products feature within DNA’s app stack, which is something Xero Award judges are looking for and we could clearly illustrate.

Our ambition is to redefine the accounting landscape in Guernsey, transitioning businesses from traditional models to innovative, cloud-based solutions. By fostering a culture of curiosity, empowering our staff, and promoting a sharing mindset, we aim to inspire businesses to embrace Xero and harness the power of real-time insights into their operations. Our approach is characterised by accessibility, offering free initial consultations and training to ensure that every business, regardless of size or sector, can benefit from the transformative power of Xero.
