Guernsey's first Community Awards have been established by the Guernsey Community Foundation to formally applaud and recognise the efforts of charities, individuals and corporations that have helped raise money and support local charities and community projects to benefit the island and beyond. They are a real celebration of community spirit on the island.
This is YOUR chance to ensure that those people who give their time selflessly on behalf of others are put forward for consideration for an award. Without doubt, they deserve to be thanked, and the Community Awards are an excellent way to reward their hard work and dedication.
Five individual awards will be presented at a special afternoon of celebration and recognition on Wednesday 9 November 2011 at St. James’ Concert & Assembly Hall.
There will also be a 'Special Award' which will give locals the opportunity to recognise something or someone extraordinary. This is not always awarded and will be awarded at the judges' discretion.
The four judges for the 2011 Community Awards are:
Lord de Saumarez (Chair)
Gerald Hough
Andrew Ozanne
Suzanne Heneghan
The closing date for nominations is Wednesday 5 October 2011.
