THE THREE 'R'S - REDUCE REUSE RECYCLE
17th December 2009
... Comments

So, how are we all going to get rid of the piles of christmas wrapping paper, cards, tree, plastic packaging and leftover food after our seaon of over-indulgence?  Here's a few pointers in keeping green this Christmas and looking after our precious environment:

  • Recyling bins for polystyrene packaging are now available at Mont Cuet and Longue Hougue.
  • Some wrapping paper, if opened carefully, could be re-used for next year!
  • It's not always about recycling - why not reduce what you use and wrap presents in magazines or newspaper instead - there are plenty of festive articles that will make your presents look cheery. Top tip - iron your newspaper first to get rid of the black ink.
  • Reusable trees last for many years
  • Try and avoid presents that have too much packaging. Buy recyclable presents or those wrapped in recyclable material

Public Services are putting out extra bins with extra collections over the Christmas period. But if the bins are full don't leave your recycling on the ground - please come back later.

THERE WILL BE NO RECYLING COLLECTION ON CHRISTMAS OR NEW YEAR'S DAY.

Christmas Tree Recycling - take your tree to States Works at Burnt Lane, Le Friquet Plant and Garden Centre or Earlswood Garden Centre. Last year 6,133 trees were shredded and used as mulch on parks and gardens.
