Nicki Harrison, a 5-year member of The Best of Guernsey has some exciting news to share. Alongside running her business as a Travel Counsellor, sending locals on worldwide adventures, Nicki has written a dystopian fantasy trilogy with the first book in the series, 'The Withering' coming out on the 18th August 2023.
About the author
Developing the imagination that one might expect of a fantasy author, Nicki's travels and experiences have strengthened her love for creating immersive characters and unique worlds, like the ones you'll find in The Encia Trilogy. Taking readers on the only type of journey she cannot create in her day job - Nicki hopes her writing will create a fresh escapism for anyone who chooses to read the book.
Although the story is set in a different world, eagle eyed locals will spot some references to Guernsey in the world of Encaris (where the story is set).
Chatting with thebestof Guernsey, Nicki said:
"Making the leap to become a Travel Counsellor has allowed me to achieve two dreams... continuing my career in travel and now, to become an author. I never knew it was possible to be this excited about the future."
Meet the author
If dystopian fantasy books are up your street, Nicki is hosting an event at the Guille-Alles Library on Thursday, 24th August 2023 at 7pm. Tickets are free but there are limited spaces so click here or follow the QR code in the headline image to get a space before all the tickets are gone.
