Sharon Ann De La Mare
Unique Designs & Patterns
Inspired by Nature
Sharon's passion for art kicked off in the late 1960's under the guidance of an inspirational Art Teacher but almost ended when studying for an 'A' level in History of Art (as the course didn't offer enough practical work).
After gaining an OCR Diploma in Administrative Procedures, Sharon found other creative and inspirational outlets throughout her career which included working as a Graphic Designer; a Ceramics Decorator at The Olde Guernsey Pottery; and 22 years within a leading Guernsey Advertising, Marketing, Design and PR company.
Other influencers have been The Guernsey Silk Painting Club and Sarnia Arts & Crafts Club; attending art workshops with local and visiting artists; and gaining various trophies/certificates entering competitions such as The South Show and Guernsey Eisteddfod. Having taken late retirement in 2024 as a Charity Support Officer, Sharon is now re-igniting the joy of progressing her own unique style, and having the time to do so!
As a designer, Sharon's work is complex, time-consuming and well-researched before putting brush, pen, or palate knife to paper, canvas or board! Her colourful, nature inspired, semi-abstract designs, can work with all types of medium but flavour of the month are beautiful metallic acrylics and Inktense products.
Sharon has hand-picked the original paintings, browsers, and printed items she is most proud of for her debut exhibition and hopes her different brushstrokes appeal to different folks!
Louis De La Mare
Fine Art
Fur and Feathers
Louis showed artistic talent and a fantastical imagination from very young but began his art journey primarily as an illustrator. He then developed his skills into 2d animation, digital art, and oil painting, but has recently been focussing on the latter with oils being his medium of choice.
He completed a 3 year Illustration and Animation course BA(hons) at Kingston School of Art, where he gained experience working creatively in group projects, producing animated films, illustrative pieces, and a range of experimental work.
Following University, he has taken on commissions - most notably to design animated characters for a large digital assignment. While animation has been a great focus for years, he finds new inspiration using traditional oil paints to capture fascinating details and textures found in nature, particularly fur and feathers. This is displayed in his digital illustrations as well.
Louis feels that oil paints make the perfect medium to capture small details as he finds the thick and vivid pigment of the paint easy to control with a small brush, and then diligently applied to canvas. During this exhibition Louis wishes to only showcase his recent and more select pieces of work to show his love of nature, and all things feathered and furry!
Louis hopes that folks will find joy by spotting his creatures, great and small, through their visit to Art at the Park.
Linda C Falla
Ab Fab Abstracts
& Mixed Up Media
When Linda took early retirement after 30 years within Specsavers Creative department, she needed to try something completely different.
Along came Sarnia Arts & Crafts Club and this got her interested in developing an art practice for her own pleasure, leisure, and enjoyment. SA&C set weekly art subjects and, through their centenary year (2024), proposed two challenging options a week - Linda did most of them! Through these random challenges she has enhanced her painting knowledge and skills and discovered the joy of watercolour - the way it flows and blends - and a love of vivid colour and light that shines through her prolific work.
More recently, she has been experimenting with acrylic inks on Indian handmade papers and acrylic paints on canvas using some unusual techniques.
The best of the art challenges and Linda's own project paintings are framed and on the walls ready to find new owners, as well as mounted browsers for easy takeaway that can be framed, at a later date, to your specific liking. Linda's art is developing all the time and is an exciting (albeit messy!) hobby that enhances her new, and fulfilled way of life.
Please enjoy the inaugural family group exhibition and should you wish to see more artworks by Linda C Falla please take a business card from the display with you.
