This wonderful work shows Bach at his very best with glorious choruses for the choir and beautiful expressive arias for the soloists.
Antonio Lotti was a Venetian Baroque composer who was greatly admired by J S Bach. He has an Italian style of composing that is reminiscent of a fellow Italian, Antonio Vivaldi. His music is full of contrasts from exhilarating excitement to heartfelt expressiveness.
The Guernsey Bach Choir and Orchestra are joined in this performance with a welcome return of four gifted professional guest soloists who have delighted audiences both locally and worldwide with their exceptional talents.
Formed in 2007 The Guernsey Bach Choir has performed a large repertoire of choral music and is now a well-established vocal ensemble with a growing reputation for high standard performances. Tonight they come together with an orchestra of strings, trumpets, flutes, oboes and bassoon to perform these masterpieces from the Baroque Era.
