No task was too small for the staff, at every level. They made our stay special whether it was the quality of the room; cleanliness; hospitality; range and quality of the food; service or the special provision on Halloween!

Perfect location for our 3 night break. The staff gave us 100% attention throughout our stay. Special praise to Olga and Katherine in the restaurant. Our room was spotlessly clean and the bed was so comfortable. We spent an idyllic day on Sark cycling the island, a must for anyone visiting Guernesey.

This is a lovely hotel and in a very convenient location. The staff are all friendly and attentive. We paid extra for a room with sea view, Room 200, and what a beautiful view we had, straight out over the bay. Lovely clean en-suite with nice toiletries and fluffy towels, bathrobes and slippers too. The queen sized bed was one of the most comfy we have ever slept in. The full English breakfast was comprehensive; 9 different items or a choice of any of them. Eggs could be poached, fried, scrambled, or boiled. Added to that options of smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, kippers or a range of continental meats, cheeses etc along with the usual toasts, breads, tea or coffee. Again nothing was too much trouble for the staff and not long to wait for the food either. We only ate dinner in the restaurant once but again very slick service and excellent food. Mention must go to Oliver, Olga, Gabriella and Katherine but to be fair everyone we came across had the same high standard and professional approach to customer care.
St Peters Port is hilly and the trek up from the town to the hotel can be tiring after a long day. We had three taxis at various times and paid between £4.60 and £6.00. Well worth it. Check out is before 11.00am but as we had a late flight we could leave our cases with the concierge. So helpful. We had a day trip to Sark, £27 each return and well worth it and Herm was £12.50 return each; so beautiful and peaceful. Get a bus timetable from the terminus and travel by bus, only £1 each trip. The bus drivers are friendly and helpful too.
We stayed five nights at the Duke and in our opinion would rate it 5*, we are definitely going to return soon.

We stayed one night at this hotel which was enough for us. Our room was tiny (cat not provided) and the decor was interesting to say the least. You will either love or hate this hotel we came down on the side of not sure.
Positives are, comfortable bed, good breakfast.
Negative dinner very poor for a 4 star hotel more pub grub than fine dinning

Very glad we picked this hotel. The interior is nice, quirky, stylish. The staff are the best thing here - all so friendly and helpful.
We were out and about each day and returned to use the pool but had clouded over each time. But it was warm enough to swim in.
Used the restaurant on one night - a bit pricey for what you get. Room service another night and eat out the final night.
Booked a superior room with seaview - great.
Recommend Southern coastal path and day trip to Herm. Buses good and cheap with single tickets.

Our family all stayed at the hotel over the August bank Holiday week-end to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary. The staff were fantastic - Hilario had organised a private room for our celebration dinner which was excellent. The room looked amazing and the attention to detail was just brilliant - service was discreet but effective - nothing was too much trouble!
The whole week-end was very memorable - thank you DOR for making it such a special occasion for us.

Top Hotel with amazing decor and very attentive staff with nothing being too much trouble. Wonderful room and the fabulous breakfasts which were freshly cooked to order with a menu to suit all tastes. The only negative I can give is having to leave after only 6 nights. If you want to treat yourself then this is definately the place to stay!

Short stay to take in the food festival. The staff were fantastic, so friendly and attentive, a credit to the hotel. Food in the restaurant exceptional. A short walk down the hill ( through the beautiful Candie Gardens) into St Peters Port, so very convenient. Will have to return for a longer stay.

This was a wonderful hotel to stay in - nothing was too much trouble for the staff and they were all extremely courteous and went the extra mile on everything. Even though the hotel is more for adults than children, the hotel spa was luxurious and welcomed well-behaved children and the staff were wonderful with our 9 and 11 year old boys. The outdoor swimming pool was cold but set in lovely gardens. Parking was very tight around the back of the hotel but it was in a fantastic location in the heart of St Peter Port. In our eyes, this hotel totally deserves 5 stars.

We spent just three nights at the OGH after an absence of about fifteen years. The new owners have plainly spared little expense in rejuvenating this old gem. The public rooms are beautifully furnished and generate an air of calm. We dined out but noticed that the prices in the two-rosette restaurant are high. The brasserie prices looked much more manageable and, judging by the splendid breakfasts and lunchtime snacks, is of high standard. Our bedroom (312) was of the basic variety (there is a wide choice) and was small but splendidly fitted and furnished. The bathroom was brand-nrew and immacuilate. There's an excellent gym and spa. Kindly staff abound. We paid £480 for three nights and felt we had good value. Just one moan - the outdoor pool is small with too few loungers for the number of guests. We arrived at lunchtime on a lovely sunny day, just wanting to lie and read. There was a body or a towel on every lounger. The managements have promised to seek to address this.
