Stayed for three nights for a friends birthday and it was perfect. The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms lovely. Just a few minutes walk from shops and marina. The restaurants were fantastic with delicious food that could not be faulted. The Spa was brilliant and the staff excellent. A fantastic hotel that had the luxury for a special occasion.

We recently stayed at the Old Government House for a long weekend away. It really is a fantastic choice on the island - the staff are incredibly welcoming and friendly and nothing at all seemed to be too much. There is a certain old fashioned charm to both the service and decor and the view from our bedroom was nothing short of spectacular. The location right in town is perfect and nothing is more than a short (hilly) walk away. The bar in the hotel is very nice for a pre-dinner drink also and the addition of a nightly pianist adds a very warm atmosphere to this excellent property. We will certainly return.

My wife and I recently stayed at the OGH in St Peter Port. It is a wonderful hotel that preserves the best of the old while embracing the comfort that one expects from a luxury property. Dale Scholtz, Guest Experience Manager, was particularly helpful in assisting us with every request we made. The lodging and dining were both excellent. We have no reservations recommending this hotel to other travelers.

just spent a week at OGH and find the staff to be absolutely first rate, all the way from reception to room maids. Just arrived in France from Guernsey to Saint Malo, at the hotel des thermes where the staff is a joke in comparison, an absolute joke. My room was extremely well furnished and decorated, all ameneties were perfect at OGM. My room in this Saint Malo hotel (more expensive) is the size of the bathroom of OGH.

We booked this hotel at quite short notice for the May bank holiday weekend, after viewing the reports on Trip Advisor and we were not disappointed. It is indeed a wonderful hotel, the staff are amazing, from the first moment they all appeared to know our names and little things like this make for a fantastic experience. Nothing is too much trouble. the food in the restaurant is just delicious - the sea bass is quite the best I have ever had.
We upgraded our room to one with a harbour view, looking out across the sea and it was well worth it. Our room was lovely and again the little touches such as the L'occitane toiletries provided and thick fluffy towels made our stay even better than expected. The gym is small but well equipped and the spa very clean and peaceful.
We ate out at Pier 17 one evening and don't be put off by the look from the outside of this wonderful restaurant, the inside is very tasteful and well decorated it is well worth a visit but you need to book.
A fabulous stay in a beautiful place - we certainly hope to return.

We stayed for three nights and had a great time, we had dinner one night, which was suitably lovely and the breakfasts were spectacular. Staff were polite and helpful, arranging a tour guide for us and giving advice about local attractions. Wi-fi was good and valet parking was a relief given the lack of parking in the surrounding area.

The Queen room turned out to be quite small, everything perfect and in its place, but cramped for a three night stay. I tried to upgrade, but all the bigger rooms were booked. Only reason that I did not give this review five stars was that the double bed that I specified was two quite hard singles pushed together. Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but the poor sleep just took the edge off what would otherwise have been a flawless stay.

We chose a great sea view room in this characterful hotel. It was large, bright, and felt thoroughly 'special'.

The sea was a few yards away over the town, but certainly visible. And one cannot fault any hotel for where the sea chooses to be.

A great patio area, with a brilliant atmosphere, adjacent to the truly top notch dining area. We didn't get chance to eat there, which owes more to the Island's great choice of eateries rather than the great OGH offering, which looked superb. Brilliant breakfast tho!

Brilliantly designed, with lots of nooks and crannies and a hint of South Africa, this is a great hotel to explore. And the adjoining spa and bad facilities are enviable too,

What is running though is the service level. Every single person is brilliantly recruited. They know the real goal is not doing their job, but ensuring every customer enjoys a gay experience.

I cannot fault this hotel - and would not wish to,

We stayed here for two nights. It was recommended by a Guernsey person for the quality & location and it was a good choice for us.

Check-in was quick & friendly, with staff on hand to help us with our bags etc. The hotel is well situated a few minutes walk from St Peter Port's main shopping high street, and within easy reach of all the town's tourist attractions (& probably business offices too, if you are coming for work).

The room was not huge but was very comfortable and nicely furnished. I did consider an upgrade but actually preferred the decor of the smaller rooms (which was a bit more minimalist and less fancy). There was plenty of wardrobe space for a multi-day stay & a dressing table with adequate power supply for laptops etc. The bathroom was a decent size with a good shower as well as a bath. The bed was very comfortable with good-quality bed-linen and plenty of pillows.

We only took breakfast in the hotel so I can't comment on the dinner, but the breakfast was very nice with a good range of choices including traditional 'Full English', kippers and eggs Benedict as well as continental if you don't need a hot meal first thing in the morning, and of course the ubiquitous buffet for the grazers. The full breakfast was about £15 per person if you don't have B&B.

There is a lovely spa which sadly we didn't have a chance to make use of. The swimming pool is out-door but supposedly heated and the terrace looked like a bit of a sun-trap so I think it would be a nice place to swim when the weather warms up a bit.

All the staff went out of their way to be helpful -- to the extent that one of the porters chased us down the street to give us a map he thought we'd find useful!

Would definitely stay here again.

For a truly memorable afternoon tea in Guernsey you cannot beat The Old Government House Hotel. The ambience of their lounge and the tea is to be savoured in elegant surroundings attended by staff who are superb.
