My wife and I stayed for a couple of nights in mid-summer. The staff are all very friendly and helpful, to the point that they had gone out and purchased a box of Maltesers at my request so they were on the bed when we arrived.

It's a nice hotel in a town with limited accommodation options. That may be why it is expensive. The staff are excellent though and work hard to ensure top quality service. Reception, porter and concierge were top drawer. They offer free valet parking & good advice about places to eat in town.
Hotel rooms are fine but they are small (& not cheap).
Also they have a nice bar & good views

The quality of service is amazing. Without exception every member of the hotel staff we met were friendly, courteous and above all eager to please. If you transplanted the staff to any other average hotel it would transform the experience to an enjoyable one.

The OGH is in a great location and just a two minute walk to the main shopping street.

Breakfast was good and the one meal we took in the Brasserie was excellent. All extras like teas, coffees and alcoholic drinks were surprisingly reasonable; £2.50 for a pot of tea.

It's a quirky building with multiple extensions over time which makes it more interesting than a modern box hotel. The furnishings are traditionally elegant and comfortable. Other reviews have mentioned that the hotel is a bit worn in places. We had one of the suites and the walls are covered in fabric which had dark patches caused by the air conditioning vents. It's hard not to notice this when you first walk in but the other qualities of the hotel and service soon make this superficial and irrelevant.

We found the bed a bit firm but housekeeping added a mattress topper and it was comfy thereafter.

Stayed for 3 nights, which included an anniversary, and went for upgrade to a suite which gave super views over the harbour from a massive balcony. The room was comfortable and good sized and staff most attentive, helpful and very polite.
Restaurant was top notch so that we ate in 2 nights and well enjoyed the fayre.

We visited the Duke of Richmond Hotel for an informal family gathering one Saturday. We had exclusive use of the Residents Lounge, which provided a stylish setting. The staff were very attentive and helpful, allowing us to move the furniture around to suit our needs. We were only there for drinks and didn't stay at the hotel, so can't comment much further. But I would certainly stay at the hotel on future occasions. There is a lovely sun terrace providing sea views, and the swimming pool looked inviting.

Have just returned from a three night stay at the hotel over bank holiday weekend, family of 4 (children 5 & 1yrs).
I cannot fault the hotel at all, all the staff were so accommodating & friendly. They made such a special effort with my daughter (5yrs) with a special check-in, arranged a movie night for her, cupcake decorating class and room service delivered her favourite drink to our room, 10 minutes after arriving! Very impressive.
The hotel is lovely decorated, very clean & well maintained. Our room was a superior room, which was really big even after accommodating a travel cot & double pull out bed.

Breakfast was lovely with options of cereals, fruits, breads & croissants etc juices & smoothies and hot options of full English breakfast/ pancakes or waffles, served in the lovely conservatory or the terrace if the sun's out.

Briefly used the pool, which again was lovely just a shame the weather wasn't nicer otherwise we would have enjoyed this space more.

Hotel's location - 15 mins from town (cost £12 in cab), 10 minute walk to the start of town. Hotel is situated right near Candie gardens.
We received lots of special treats also as it was out wedding anniversary but don't want to spoil it for others.

Didn't get time to experience afternoon tea unfortunately but it looked amazing! And we can highly recommend Sunday lunch (£21.95 for 3 course).
Really loved this hotel & will definitely return in the future. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay so special 💞

We have stayed here for a three night family break every year for the last three years during the summer. The hotel has a fabulous luxury chabbi chic feel, the staff are wonderful and very friendly but extremely professional. The location of the hotel is close to a lovely quiet secluded open park area on the edge of town yet only a 10 min casual walk into the hub of the night life of St Peters Port.A stay is highly recommended.

This was a last minute holiday booking and how lucky were we to pick this hotel out of the few on offer. The staff were really helpful from the minute we got there till the minute we left. Service throughout our stay was really good

This hotel has much improved since being taken over by the Red Carnation Group. We last stayed here 7 years ago. We stayed in room 407 which is a junior suite on the top floor. Whilst the weather was good the view was fantastic. The other 3 junior suits had their own private terrace with sun loungers which would have been nice if the weather had stayed sunny over the bank holiday, note that these rooms do not get the view. Our room decor was very confused, pictures of elephants mixed with an art decco mirrior, fabric on the walls. The comfort level of the room was very good with a very comfy 4 poster bed. Loccitane toiletries in the bathroom and good quality towels and bath robes. However breakfast service was slow and portion size inconsistent. Some of the staff were excellent others not so. There idea to have the kitchen staff on full view via a glass wall is a strange thing for a hotel. The menu choices for lunch an dinner could be more suited to being on Guernsey and make use of more local produce and perhaps have some more choices rather than using a blackboard for so called specials which were things taken from the regular menu and tweaked.
