A Red Carnation Hotel in recent years renovated to a good standard.Walking distance to Town. (10mins) opposite a park and next to Candie Gardens. Slightly restricted view of sea from terrace. Conservatory where afternoon tea can be taken leads directly on to terrace which is lovely on a warm day.

Afternoon tea is as expected, wide choice of loose leafed tea, finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones with jam and clotted cream and a mouth watering array of pastries and cakes. Good value at £17.95 a head. What you can't eat can be boxed up and taken away!

If I had any criticisms they would be; a shortage of cutlery ( no cake forks so one had to use the teaspoon from teacup) we had to ask for napkins, I had to ask for a clean cup and the handle on the tea pot was cracked where it joined the pot. Service was also a little slow, it took over half an hour to serve us. It is a shame these things let the quality of the service down. Food was very good though, decor pleasant and staff very polite.

We booked this hotel for 5 nights through Expedia for our first visit to Guernsey. This trip was to celebrate our anniversary and my wife's birthday.
On our arrival, reception at the front desk was very good. While checking in we also booked for the dinner on that day to celebrate birthday. Receptionsist wished my wife happy birthday. When we arrived for dinner that night, I was disappointed that we were seated next to the kitchen door. Then Katharine, young trainee waitress, served us very well. Although she is doing her 3rd year of her training, she was absolutely professional with her Bermuda smile.
Room 311 was very well decorated and bathroom was spotlessly clean as one would expect in 4 star hotel. Kettle was hidden in ward robe, so was the safety locker.
Leopard restaurant serves a very high quality food. Staff is very professional and friendly. Katherine, Carina and Olga Abrue were brilliant. We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast every day and three dinners. Very pleased.
Walking back to hotel from the town is uphill walk. However, if you plan, you can catch bus number 32, 41, 42, 51, 61, 71 or 81 from town terminus and get down at St Julian Avnue stop. By doing that you will reduce 60% of your uphill legwork. Even hotel receptionist will not tell you this. On the whole, a very memorable stay and would recommend highly.

returned to this hotel and once again was excellent. Amazing rooms, breakfast and bar area - all a little bit different. Bar fairly pricey though. Breakfast is a great selection and the cooked to order hot food is a great choice. The planning is great and they cater for your every need. Would recommend.

We booked this hotel on the recommendation of a friend and the good reports here. It was not cheap at over £250 a night for our room, but we thought we would give it a try for a four day relaxing break. We checked in OK and were shown to our room. It was about the size of a Premier Inn room, but with a really good bathroom. We were then phoned from reception to say that because of a new mobile phone mast nearby there was no TV reception.

We decided to move hotels as we weren't certain of the weather and wanted the option to watch TV if we wanted to. I was surprised we were not told of the TV problem when we checked in. I was surprised we were not offered help moving to another hotel.

When I have talked to people in Guernsey they say that the hotel has been better run in the past, and one taxi drive told us of £70 cocktails.

The public rooms looked wonderful and the hotel has a good location. I hope they sort their problems out soon.

Just returned from 3 nights at The OGH. The hotel, the staff, the setting and the overall experience was fabulous. Nothing was too much trouble. Staff were extremely attentive without being in your face all the time. Will definetly be returning.

My wife and I have recently spent four nights at this hotel and from the time of our arrival to the time of our departure we were treated like VIP's. No exaggeration, we really were. The porters, the receptionists the managers and in fact all the staff who made it their duty to remember our name and address us accordingly. The room was as requested and maintained to the highest standard. The housekeeping was exceptional with evening 'turn downs'. The breakfasts are to a high standard and to suit everyone's pallet. The outdoor heated swimming pool is a must, dependant on the weather, but is often in a sun trap until late afternoon at this time of the year. This hotel definitely gets my vote as it ticked all the boxes.

This is a lovely but not perfect hotel so I'll get the negatives out of the way first. As mentioned by another guest there has not been and was not any TV reception in guest rooms. It may now be there of course. We were not told about this when booking, there was no mention of it on the hotel's website when booking and we were not told on check in.
On check in, £200 is "pre authorised" from your credit card. Even if you have paid for your hotel stay in advance as we did. On check out, even if you spend nothing as we did, this is not cancelled. Or the next day. Or the next.....we are frequent travellers in hotels of this standard on a regular monthly basis for business and this is our first experience of this type of arrangement.
Our room was very small. This was almost the first thing we were told on check in, immediately offered an upgrade, at extra cost to ourselves. The rapidity of this sort of sales pitch is demeaning for a hotel such the OGH and it should cease this practice. It is not professional.
The room was beautifully decorated and clean, just the nowadays seemingly inevitable bits of mould around the bath/shower. It was quiet, windows opened, a/c worked, plenty of towels(too many really in such a small space!), L'Occitane toiletries, gowns and slippers provided. We only ate breakfast in the hotel and this varied but was mainly excellent. The view from the hotel is great, the pool is lovely although very odd that you have to walk through the restaurant to get to it! We didn't need to interact much with staff but when we did they were very helpful. The location is excellent.
We had a fabulous time in Guernsey, the weather was excellent and we would return to the OGH. But they need to sort out the TV situation, the £200 set up and the pushing the bigger room scenario.

This is one of the finest hotels I have ever stayed in. Not only is the property beautiful and commanding an excellent position next to St Peters Port, but the service was first rate. I was lucky enough to stay here for a week on a business trip and was given my own residence on the opposite side of the road to the hotel. The residence was extremely spacious and catered for my every need ( an iron and ironing board was provided on request and remained with me all week). The double bed was grand and very comfortable, with my own satellite television box provided in the room. Internet connection was fast and efficient and provided by my own router again in the room. The bathroom was very well equipped with everything I might have needed including nice bath salts for a relaxing soak after a hard day. Under floor heating and very modern classic style finished the look and again gave a very elegant feel. There was more than ample storage for all my clothes, it was like a home away from home! Every morning my desired newspaper was delivered to the door and freshly ground OGH blend coffee was provided for a good strong cup of coffee to wake me up! Breakfast in the dining room was both a self service for continental style and a la carte for cooked. The quality of the produce was excellent and local and to get freshly made hollandaise sauce with my eggs benedict was a welcome surprise. Service from the staff was excellent, they were efficient in getting you seated, taking your order and making sure your breakfast was delivered in a timely manner. I also had the pleasure of eating at the restaurant for an evening meal. Again the service was impeccable and the food outstanding. The fillet of beef with bone marrow jus was one of the best meals I ate that week, and the deconstructed rasberry and rhubarb trifle was both clever and very tasty, my compliments to the chef.
I can honestly say I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this hotel, the staff were amazing, very attentive and professional. My only negative comment would be at the price of the room. Had my company not have been paying, I think the cost for the room would have been too high and would have put me off booking.

On a recommendation from a friend my partner and I changed bookings and stayed at the OGH for six nights. The location, sitting above St Peter Port Harbour looking out to sea was delightful, moreover, very convenient for walking around the streets of this old town. The hotel itself suggested times past but in a traditional way never old fashioned. The service throughout the hotel reflected the inherent values of this establishment, smiley, helpful, professional, with just the right touch of the personal. The staff were never intrusive but always there when needed - a difficult balance to achieve. The food, especially the fish was excellent and once again the staff in the restaurant were always 'on the spot '. A special mention to the most charming of receptionists who 'fronted' most of our stay. If you could bottle her approach I do not know many businesses who would not purchase it - a real asset.

If you wish a break away from the stress of modern life and be extremely, extremely well looked after look no further - The very best of stays.

My wife and I came back to the St Pierre Park for the third time in three years. Just as the last times we had an enjoyable stay. The rooms are large and all have balconies although it was much too cold to take advantage of them. The bed is a king size and I have never seen so many pillows in a hotel before. We found it very comfortable.
We found the staff all very welcoming and friendly. Bar staff and those in the restaurant were very efficient.
The food at breakfast was of good quality and there was a great choice. We did find it not very hot at times. We had bar meals that were good. We didn't particularly like the Eton mess - We have had better.
Renovations were taking place in the hotel but it did not spoil our stay.
The one down side of this hotel is its location . It is a 25 to 30 minute walk into St Peters Port. However there are buses that go to the centre and they are fairly frequent. Taxis are plentiful but I find them quite expensive in Guernsey,
Would we stay here again? - Probably, is a nice hotel with welcoming staff and (once the renovations are completed) good facilities that include a Spa and a swimming pool.
