Our room was a delight - spacious, opening windows, places to sit, plump pillows and beautifully comfortable bed. Superb breakfast with extensive choice on continental buffet and hot dishes cooked to order. Staff very attentive and couldn't have done more to ensure we had an enjoyable stay. I haven't struck a hotel that does an evening turn down service in a very long time. I would love to return and would recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Guernsey.

We have just had a four night break at the Duke of Richmond hotel and cannot praise it enough. We stayed in a classic room which was lovely. I have never seen such a sparkling bathroom in a hotel before! It was pristine. All the staff were friendly and helpful. For breakfast you could either have various cooked dishes made to order or buffet continental, or both! Too much choice. We wouldn’t hesitate in recommending the hotel. Although both in our early 70’s we had no trouble negotiating the walk back up from the port to the hotel through Candie gardens. All in all a great holiday.

Having got engaged 25 years ago in Guernsey we decided to return to this lovely island. We are a fairly frequent visitor to Guernsey and have stayed at numerous hotels. The Duke Of Richmond is by far our favourite. Laid back, but professional and very friendly. We stayed on the 3rd floor in a very nicely decorated room that was maintained to a high standard during our visit. The breakfasts were excellent. We didn't have dinner but a bar snack one evening where the service from the kitchen was quite slow. It is an easy 10 minute downhill walk into St Peter Port and a slightly longer 15 minute uphill walk back. Great position. Extremely helpful and friendly reception staff, especially Paloma

Lovely hotel at the top of a very steep climb from the harbour. Unless you are an active walker you will struggle via foot so use a taxi about £6 !! Very good staff and clean recently decorated rooms . We paid extra for a seaview but binoculars were required as hotel at least a mile in land ! Superb breakfasts with an extensive range . The fine dining in evening ranged from excellent to poor . Do not order the burger as its reconstituted meat and inedible most strange as they served some amazing dishes ! No more expensive than most harbour eateries but only 7/10 rating ! One of the premier hotels in guernsey .

On Holiday and visited the conservatory for light lunch with friend who lives in Guernsey otherwise we would not have been able to find it. Good range of specials as well as light bites. Quality of food excellent as was service and the very welcoming, friendly and helpful staff. Quite small and can be difficult to find a table. The views are excellent. Did not have the opportunity to try the restaurant- the menu looked very inviting.. The whole site occupies an outstanding position overlooking St Peter Port and the Islands with lovely gardens. Large Car Park

Guernsey has many excellent restaurants - a lot of them very trendy and catering mainly for younger diners. Les Cotils is different. It has an elegance that is hard to find in modern eating establishments.
Therefore it came as a very pleasant surprise to spend a couple of hours dining in a relaxed and sophisticated environment free of raucous chatter and inappropriate background music. My advice would be to get there before the the young crowd discover it.
PS. I enjoy noisy bistros as well as the next person but sometimes it's nice to escape the hurlyburly.

Les Cotils is a great place to visit if you know the area as it can be difficult to find, tucked away beside Cambridge Park.
We have visited the Coffee Shop and Bistro in the conservatory several times whilst on holiday over the years. The specials board always offers deliciously tempting food and so it was this time. The ordinarly menu offers food to tempt most appetites, from light bites to a yummy ham, eggs and chips.
Unfortunately, our last visit was not as good as previous ones.
The waitress could not understand our Lancashire accents, although she was very pleasant and finally wrote everything down. The food was freshly cooked and piping hot.
After clearing away our main meal plates and hot drinks, we waited for our desserts, as we had ordered from the 2 course specials menu. When our desserts did not appear after some time, we asked a different waitress, who apologised, then returned to ask for our order again. My husband chose an ice cream dessert from the specials board and found several pieces of plastic in it. The second waitress thought it was ice then took it away to investigate. She discovered it was plastic from the ice cream container and apologised. My husband was offered an alternative dessert, which he of course refused, and we were told that we would not be charged for the dessert. It would have been more acceptable to have removed both his courses from the bill. My gache pudding was nice although heavy and a little stodgy after being microwaved. It came with an abundance of delicious, whipped Guernsey cream though!
We have had quite a number of delicious meals at Les Cotils, which has fabulous views over the harbours and the other islands, offers plenty of car parking and disabled access, as well as outside seating. Although this visit was very disappointing, we would definitely eat there again and do recommend it.
