Swedish massage is the massage method that comes to most people’s mind when they think about massage. As the best-known type of bodywork performed today, one of the primary goals of Swedish massage therapy is to relax the entire body.
Relaxation is achieved by rubbing the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to the heart. Swedish massage as well as relaxing the entire body is exceptionally beneficial for increasing the level of oxygen in the blood, decreasing muscle toxins, improving circulation and flexibility while easing tension.
Additional Swedish massage techniques include circular pressure applied by the hands and palms, firm kneading, percussion-like tapping, bending and stretching.
Before your Swedish massage session at Shine we ask our customers the benefits they wish to receive from their treatment, the types of massage they like – depth of stroke and speed of movement so that we can customize the treatment to your specific needs.
Karen J said “I have been a regular customer of Caroline’s for over 6 months now and am reaping the benefits of her skills and technique. Caroline tailors the massage not only to the customer but to the individual needs of that customer at the time. I usually book in early afternoon, taking a late lunch from work, and return to the office feeling relaxed and revitalised, ready to take on the world again. Caroline’s excellent use of pressure keeps my shoulders and neck loose and prevents return of a long-term arm injury which could otherwise periodically keep me out of work altogether. I would gladly recommend Caroline’s treatments and have already done so on many occasion.”
