This Christmas, Guildford’s Yvonne Arnaud Theatre brings us another glittering pantomime. The story of Cinderella has it all and with all the love and laughs, schemes and schisms, music and magic, it’s easy to see why it’s such a favourite. The cast includes Kit Hesketh-Harvey and Peter Gordon as the Ugly Sisters and Robert Maskell as Baron Hardup. Cinderella herself will be played by Alice Baker who is a first year student at the Guildford Performance Preparation Academy – when she’s a household name, you can be chuffed to bits that you saw her at the launch of her career!
Presiding over them all is Fairy Snow, played by Bonnie Langford. Bonnie Langford’s been performing since she was a child and is still going strong. I saw her in panto in Newcastle nearly thirty years ago – she was amazing then and she’s sure to be amazing now!
Now, if the pumpkin is magically turned into a golden coach, what are the mice turned into? Shetland ponies! The Best of Guildford is very proud that for this pantomime, the Shetland ponies’ handler is none other than Wendy Price from the Holistic Horse and Pony Centre in Ockham. Many of you will know Wendy from both networking meetings and from the work she does. She is a very experienced horsewoman and when she’s not caring for the pantomime ponies, she’s hard at work at the Holistic Horse and Pony Centre, teaching riding and sharing her awareness of horses and their unique energy. Her page is here if you’d like to know more.
