The Guildford Lions are holding their traditional charity fireworks fiesta on 5 November. The area has already seen a number of fireworks displays but tomorrow really is Guy Fawkes Night and really is the time to be having a fireworks display!
The event is free but a donation of £2 per person would be welcomed to cover costs and also to raise money for the Lions’ nominated charities. This year’s charities are the Prostate Project, which is fundraising for a urology centre at the Royal Surrey, and Guildford Action which supports homeless people and isolated families in the Guildford and Waverley areas.
The torchlit procession will set off from Guildford’s historic High Street at 7.45pm and arrive in Stoke Park for the firework display at 8.30pm. Please note that the High Street will be closed to traffic until 8pm, as will Upper Street and Guildford Road. The roads around Stoke Park are likely to be very busy too so give some thought to your travel plans before you set out!
