There are lots of family activities going on in and around Guildford during half term: sports and games, arts and crafts and some lovely nature walks too.
Surrey Sports Park and Guildford Spectrum are both running holiday clubs to keep your kids active during their week off school. All kinds of activities are on offer, from tennis and football to trampolining and ice skating. There are lots of new skills to be learned and the school holidays are a great time to learn them! The Guildford Spectrum is running its holiday timetable so you can go along as a family to swim, skate and bowl too. Visit the websites for more details.
If your children prefer something quieter, the Lightbox in Woking is offering its usual (and excellent) craft activities alongside its Alien Invasion exhibition. Mask making, alien towns and inventing robots all await...and there’s some spooky art for Hallowe’en too! Many of Surrey’s libraries are holding half term events too, with poetry and art for everyone. Chertsey Library’s even having a visit from the Aesop’s Touring Theatre! I love these kinds of events – my children are always really inspired and bring home lots of wonderful ideas of their own.
For the welly-wearers among you, the National Trust have a couple of great campaigns to get everyone outside and enjoying nature. In addition to 50 Things to do before you’re 11 ¾, they have also introduced their Great British Walk initiative because crunching through leaves and picking up acorns is just so much fun! Guildford’s local NT properties, Clandon Park, Polesden Lacey, Hatchlands Park and Winkworth Arboretum have some great trails for Autumn and Hallowe’en - just turn up!
Do check out the Best of Guildford events page for half term kids’ activities – I’ll be adding as many as I can between now and half term.
