Guildford Tourist Information Centre has been awarded Official Partnership status by Visit Britain.
The scheme, which was introduced in 2007, was devised to deliver excellence across the English tourism sector and has been awarded in recognition of the quality and breadth of service offered by the Guildford centre in Tunsgate.
The award recognises that only quality assessed accommodation is promoted through Guildford Tourist Information Centre, with a team of professional staff using destination management technology to provide an enhanced customer service. It also recognises that the team is committed to staff development and excellence in promoting Guildford and the surrounding area as well as the whole of England, and championing sustainable tourism and supporting the local visitor economy.
As part of Guildford Borough Council’s Economic Development Team, the Tourist Information Centre supports a number of local business groups to assist them in promotion and PR opportunities. Groups include Conference Desk Guildford which promotes venues in the area for corporate events, parties and weddings; the B&B Group and the Attractions Group. The team also represents Guildford on the Visit Surrey Partnership, and produces the Visit Surrey destination guide, as well as running a box office facility selling tickets on behalf of local events and organisations.
