The Running Stream pub in Farnham has recently donated £1,700 to Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care.
The Running Stream pub in Farnham has recently donated £1,700 to Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care, to help fund the supportive and end of life care which it provides for local patients and families who are living with an advanced or terminal illness, such as cancer.
The money was raised through a weekly Meat Raffle which is held at the pub, and other fundraising activities which they also hold throughout the year.
“The patrons of The Running Stream are committed to supporting Phyllis Tuckwell and really admire the work that is done there. We are delighted to pass this money over to you!” said Carolyn, of The Running Stream pub.
“We would like to thank the patrons of The Running Stream who raised this fantastic amount of money,” said Leanne Magee, Community Fundraiser at Phyllis Tuckwell. “£1,700 could cover the cost of one of our Physiotherapists for over two weeks, helping patients to remain as independent as possible throughout all stages of their illness.”
Every day, Phyllis Tuckwell supports over 250 patients, relatives and carers - in their own homes, in the community, at the Hospice in Farnham and at the Beacon Centre in Guildford - through a mix of medical and nursing care, therapies, counselling, social work advice and practical support. However, as the NHS/Government only covers 20% of its costs, it has to raise over £20,000 a day to be able to offer all of its services, which are given free of charge to its patients and their families.
