Healthy Planet
Who are we?
Healthy Planet has been created to inspire, encourage and support individuals and businesses around the world to make a difference to themselves, their children and the planet.
Healthy Planet emerged from a passion to act on and reverse the trend of children of the 21st century having shorter life spans than their parents! We want to create everyday opportunities for people to make positive change for healthier lifestyles.
What do we do?
Since registering as a charity in 2007, Healthy Planet has developed an incredible mixture of initiatives and ideas. At the moment our 3 main initiatives are:
(1) Adopt a Plot
This initiative allows individuals, groups or businesses to adopt land anywhere in the world and support conservation projects in that area. In exchange the adopter gains a personalised certificate, a plaque on the Google map on our website and depending on the conservation project they have decided to support, feedback on how the activity on their plot is progressing.
(2) Healthy Learning
We help schools learn about the natural world by providing free lesson plans! We also go into schools and give presentations and help school classes fundraise so that they can adopt a plot of land themselves. We offer free grants back to schools to set up their own green and healthy projects.
(3) Books For Free
This initiative is simple: we prevent books from going to landfill or pulping and give them to people who want them! Our motives are also simple: a) reducing waste and b) encouraging reading amongst the community. This project takes place all over the country in otherwise empty high street units! So far we have saved 21 tonnes of books!
