Kensington and Chelsea College is launching two major initiatives and holding an open day to help celebrate Apprenticeship Week 2012.
To mark the start of the national event the college is hosting an online launch for its newly created ‘KCC Works’ division who are focusing on working with local employers to deliver a range of apprenticeships.
Since coming into force KCC Works has already partnered with some of the biggest employers in the borough including the V&A, Whitechapel Gallery and Imperial College, and is offering employers a free training needs analysis and a 1-2-1 presentation on the business benefits of taking part in Apprenticeship Programmes.
The college has also teamed up with the British Institute of Innkeeping (BII) to offer a new Apprenticeship in Licensed Hospitality. BII’s Licensed Hospitality Apprenticeship is set to make its debut at the College’s Chelsea Centre on Monday 13 February. Guest Speaker will be Baroness Wilcox, the Parliamentary Under-Secretary for the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills.
Cathie Smith, Director of BIIAB who award qualifications in licensed retail, said: “The Apprenticeship in Licensed Hospitality has been created through an exclusive new framework designed to develop the skills, knowledge and understanding to work in the licensed hospitality industry.”
College Principal Mike Jutsum added: “As a college we are committed to giving our students the widest possible choice of career and training opportunities, which is why I’m especially delighted to add the new BII qualification to our growing list of Apprenticeships.”
The college is also hosting an open day as part of Apprenticeship Week. Anyone interested in finding out more about KCC Works, Apprenticeships or any other college courses is invited to attend the event on Thursday 9th February, 4-7pm at the Chelsea Centre, SW10 0QS. Subject tutors will be available for one to one interviews, advice and guidance on the night.
