Fabulous Food at the Italian Connection,Harrogate
Having just moved to Harrogate, we are still finding the little gems of this great town and this is a definite jewel. Nestled half way up Cold Bath Road, just across from the Brown Trout is the Italian Connection, a small but friendly family run bistro.
The cold nights are approaching but from the moment we walked in to this cosy eaterie we were shown first class service and happy smiling friendly faces.
It was a Friday evening and all but one of the tables were taken so to be on the safe side booking is advised.
Delicious Italian bread was promptly brought to our table and the wine order taken from an imaginative and reasonably priced menu (although it was decided the magnificient Cloudy Bay would be left in the cellar for another party to enjoy!)We chose a grand Gavi di Gavi which did not disappoint.
All four starters were delicious, my friend and I both savouring Spaghetti Alio Olio with a nice touch of chilli. Our partners had Smoked Chicken Salad and both were complimentary over the taste and portion size.
For mains the Duck in Orange Sauce was beautifully tender and moist, and my friend John's Monkfish was cooked to perfection. Trish's Tortellini with Ricotta and Pear was sampled by all and was simply gorgeous! The Lamb Shank was demolished by Carol but she wouldn't share!
The desserts were also terrific including a Raspbery Klafoutis-like tart which was heavenly. The meal was good value and the service first class. Our waitress (who we learnt was the daughter in law of the owners) was very efficient friendly and entertaining, exchanging witty banter with us and making the evening one to remember!! Thank you so much!
We will not be too long in returning to the Italian Connection and would highly recommend the Harrogate public try it if you haven't already!!
