My Trip to Stockeld Park Summer Adventure

I took my two kids to the Stockeld Park Summer Adventure and it was fantastic! On arrival, friendly staff welcome you to the Park and you are given wristbands which gives you access to all areas. The only thing we needed to pay extra for were the electric scooters which take you around the enchanted forest and are great fun.  This is a unique family attraction that will keep you entertained for hours.

The activities that were available to us were:

  1. The Amazing Maze – 8ft high Yew trees, lots of great hidden surprises, mysterious sounds, a  Castle viewing tower, and musical instruments.  Follow the trail and find the clues for a chance of winning a chocolate welly.
  2. The Enchanted Forest – this is by far our favorite activity.  The path is wide and suitable for prams and pushchairs.  I dare you not to feel like a kid again whilst you enjoy all the magical sounds, instruments and characters such as Rapunzel, the Witch, a troll, a giant, fairies & goblins, little red riding hood, and our personal favorite, the talking tree, to name but a few.  There are several play parks along the way that are themed such as tepees and slides, climbing frames, Noah’s ark, a dragon swing, a ship and even a tea cup slide that’ll make you feel like you’ve stepped into the Mad Hatter’s tea party.  Halfway along you can get some refreshments at Gretel’s cabin, where you also have access to toilets.
  3. Roller Skating – at the end of your walk around the Enchanted Forest, you may feel energetic enough to have a go at roller skating
  4. Electric Scooter trail – this is great fun and children aged 5 to 8 must be accompanied by an adult, kids aged 8+ years can go on their own. You get to wear helmets and you are fully trained on how to use them by professional staff.  There is an extra charge for this activity
  5. Chopper Go Karts & Adventure Zones – there is a big field where families can enjoy the sunshine and kick a ball, have a picnic, go on the playground areas, jump on an inflatable pillow, bouncy castle slide or go on the go karts.  And look out for the pumpkin patch too.
  6. Indoor Playzone – Next to the café there are some indoor inflatables kids can enjoy along with a Wendy house to explore as well as a train and some lego.  The Magical Gift emporium not only sells lovely gifts, but it also has a craft zone.

If you’ve brought a picnic, there are lots of great places where you can enjoy it such as on the Enchanted Forest trail or in the big field near the inflatables. If you haven’t brought anything to eat, there are two lovely cafes near the entrance – the Woodland café or the Lake View cafe.

There are lots of things to do and it took us a good 4 hours to get around to all the activities, but you could easily spend a lot longer enjoying all that the park has to offer.  It’s a definite thumbs up from my family.
