Leeds Festival came to a spectacular close over the August bank holiday weekend, with unforgettable performances throughout the event. With such talent gracing the stage and an electric atmosphere, this year's Leeds Festival has definitely gone down in history as a classic!

The Foo Fighters wowed the Friday night crowd with Dave Grohl proclaiming "Honey, I'm home"! as he took to the stage and dedicated songs to Nirvana band mates Kurt Cobain and Krist Novoselic, as well as legendary BBC engineer Miti Adhikari (who was recording his final show for the station) and even his kids. Dave even got the crowd singing Happy Birthday to his mum! Festival-goers were also treated to a stunning fireworks display to end the Foo's magnificent set.

Indie icons Kasabian played their first Main Stage headline gig at Leeds, treating the crowd to some rousing anthems and even dedicated a song to the late Neil Armstrong when the moon shone on the packed festival site.

The Cure played in the city of Leeds for the first time since 1985, with frontman Robert Smith greeting the crowd by saying ""Hello again. It’s been a while". The band then launched into a blistering 33 song set including their greatest hits. Boys Don't Cry? There were certainly a few twinkling eyes in the crowd during that performance!

Other highlights of the weekend included Alt-J, Jake Bugg and Two Door Cinema Club making surprise appearances on the BBC Introducing Stage and BBC3 presenter Fearne Cotton wished the festival could be on every weekend.

Reflecting on the weekend Melvin Benn, Managing Director of Festival Republic said, "This was one of the best years yet for the festivals - bigger Main Stages, new logos, great weather overall, legendary performances and a few surprises along the way! The Foo Fighters had a lot of love from the crowd, Robert Smith sounded as good today as his last time at the festival in 1979 and Kasabian proved they were more than ready to step up to headline. I'd also like to say a big thanks to each and every festival goer who help make the events the best place to be every August Bank Holiday weekend. See you next year!"
