In April, the Rotary Club of Harrogate Brigantes held their annual Stroke Awareness Day at ASDA in Harrogate to support the Stroke Association's "Know Your Blood Pressure Day".
A team of retired doctors and nurses took blood pressure of members of the general public between 10am and 4pm. 61 people participated, of these, 7 (1 in 10 people) were found to have raised blood pressure and were advised to visit their GP for further examination.
It is important to keep your blood pressure under control, as this will help you reduce your risk of suffering a stroke and other serious long term effects.
The event was well supported and included the Mayor of Harrogate, Robert Windass, and his wife Sylvia (Mayoress).
