Are you planning to enter a race this year?   

Maybe you want to start running to get fit or perhaps to raise money for charity, whatever the reason, here are some top tips for beginners to get you going. Harrogate has a lot to offer for those of you who enjoy running.

  • Consult your GP and start by walking, then build up gradually to running

  • Get a good pair of running shoes

  • Plan your route, and add it to your diary, here are a list of suggested routes in Harrogate

  • Warm up, and stretch when you’ve finished, especially when going on a race

  • Start slowly and increase your pace & distance gradually

  • Run with a friend or join a club, Harrogate has quite a few

  • Drink lots of water

  • Practice, why not have a go at the Harrogate 5k weekly timed run?
