Joan Armatrading pops in to Harrogate on Sunday the 9th May to sing about "This Charming Life" (her new CD) and will no doubt be belting out some of her classics too. Wonder if she has a Blue Peter badge? She is appearing at the HIC.

Saturday 15th May is the Last Night of the Proms.....what happened to the other nights?

Ray Davies is a living legend. He graces Harrogate with his presence on Friday 21 May 2010 at 7.30pm at the HIC

Ray is one of the most successful and influential songwriters to emerge from the British Invasion of the 1960s.He founded the rock band The Kinks with his brother Dave in London in 1963. The band’s string of top ten international hits began with ‘You Really Got Me’, followed by ‘All Day and All of The Night’, ‘Tired of Waiting’, ‘Set Me Free’, ‘See My Friends’, ‘Till The End of The Day’, ‘A Well Respected Man’, ‘Lola’, ‘Sunny Afternoon’, ‘Dedicated Follower of Fashion’, ‘Apeman’, and ‘Come Dancing’ among many others.

In June 2009 Ray’s new album which includes many of The Kinks classic hits was released entitled The Kinks Choral Collection.

His May 2010 tour sees him performing, with his band, Kinks' hits and classics and material from his recent two solo albums.

The South take the stage at the beautiful Royal Hall on Friday 04 June at 8.00pm

Formed 20 years ago, The Beautiful South sold over 15 million albums worldwide and  packed out stadiums and arenas throughout that period.I have seen them twice at large arenas and loved them!! They had a string of hit singles such as Old Red Eyes Is Back, Rotterdam, Don't Marry Her, Perfect 10 and Number One single A Little Time. Their greatest hits album, Carry On Up The Charts, was one of the fastest-selling albums in UK history, entering at Number One and staying there for weeks, becoming one of the country's most popular albums ever.

Having taken a 2 year sabbatical The Beautiful South return as The South, with the brilliant Alison Wheeler on Vocals resurrecting the songs and the sounds of this Great British Pop institution by dipping into the Beautiful South songbook as well as writing new material.
I love them from the bottom of my pencil case!

Also at the Royal Hall on Saturday the 12th June the Harrogate Choral Society present Haydn - the Creation.

Latin Fever hits Harrogate the following afternoon on Sunday the 13th June with Darren Bennett and Lilia Kopylova

The dazzling partnership from the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing will be joined by four leading Latin American dancing duos for their breathtaking voyage, which takes them from the streets of Brazil to the bullrings of Spain by way of a vibrant mix of dance styles including the rumba, the cha-cha-cha and of course the tango.

Their glamorous journey begins with an explosion of Brazilian rhythms at the Carnival in Rio, before the audience is transported to the sultry clubs of Buenos Aires to be seduced by the passion and intensity of the tango. Cuba beckons with the cheeky cha-cha-cha and rumba, and then it’s time to boogie to the American dance halls of the 1920s for the swing and jitterbug. The voyage continues in Spain where the passion, aggression and drama of the bullring is brought to life in the glorious paso doblè.

A sensational live Latin band perform much-loved songs including the sultry Fever, the sizzling Besame Mucho, and the hip-wiggling Livin’ La Vida Loca.

Jason Manford brings his own brand of humour to Harrogate on Tuesday 20th July with his one man stand up show. Not my cup of tea but many like him including Peter Kay who thinks he's hilarious. Why not see if you agree?
