The Townsperson of the Year award is unique to Wetherby and this year's winner is Claire Stubbs, secretary of Wetherby Sports Association.

Every year the Wetherby Lions Club asks for nomination for the Townsperson of the Year award from members of the public. The winner is then chosen by a small committee which consists of the President of Wetherby Lions Club, the Mayor and last year's award winner.

The winner is person who is deemed to have contributed most to Wetherby's community within the past year and is an honour to receive. Award winner Claire Stubbs was nominated because she has time for everyone and always has a smile on here face.

Claire juggles a busy family life with a full time job and her duties with Wetherby Sports Association. Over the last two years Claire and the WSA has become involved with a number of community events such as the town bonfire and celebrations for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.
