The Olympic prowess of Yorkshire's athletes has certainly set tongues wagging over the London 2012 games - the medal tally from our fantastic county would now rank us ahead of countries such as Japan and Australia!

The likes of heptathlete Jessica Ennis, cyclist Ed Clancy, rowers Andrew Triggs Hodge and Katherine Copeland, and the Brownlee brothers Alistair and Jonathan have contributed almost a quarter of Team GB's medal tally, which is the biggest since 1908.

Other Yorkshire medallists include Otley's Lizzie Armitstead, who won a silver in the women's cycling road race and rower Tom Ransley, who powered through the water to win bronze as part of the British men's eight crew event. Northallerton's Nicola Wilson claimed silver in the team eventing competition.

But it's not just the athletes who are doing a fantastic job of representing our region in the 2012 games - Boroughbridge physio Dave Jackson, eventing coach Chris Bartle and pentathlete osteopath David Annett have also been pulling their weight in the Team GB squad.
