Since February this year, eight parks around Harrow have been upgraded in time for the Easter holidays.
The council and residence joined forces to secure £595,000 in funding.
The parks benefitting from these upgrades are:
The Croft: Home to Harrow’s first solar powered play unit. The interactive equipment includes multi-player games, and a slide and climbing frame for younger visitors
Brockhurst Corner: The new play area now features equipment suitable for toddlers and older children including slides, climbing walls, a stepping bridge and climbing bars.
Pinner Memorial Park: A new surface has been laid around the slide in the park with new fencing also being put in.
Chandos Park: Extra bark has been laid, with new surfacing put in around the play equipment.
Queensbury Rec: New swings have been built at the Rec along with a ‘climb and slide’ unit for toddlers and a new surface.
Byron Rec: Will feature new slides and play equipment, with older children able to tackle climbing walls and new rope structures.
Cedars: New equipment includes a timber agility trail set in the wooded area of the park, blending in with its surroundings.
Roxbourne Park: The park has been fully refurbished with new fencing, surfacing and play equipment for all ages, including a tarantula spider net.
Shaftesbury Park: Features new equipment aimed at young children, including sensory items, swings, a play hut slide, sliding poles and an adventure tube for crawling through.
Portfolio Holder for Environment and Community Safety, Cllr Phillip O’Dell, said: “Children need safe and stimulating places to play to encourage them to lead healthy lifestyles from a young age.
“With our new play areas we’ve been able to cater for a wide range of age ranges and interests and I’m sure families will look forward to trying them out over the half term break.”
Lets hope the weather holds out over Easter so we can enjoy the parks!
