What an inspiring and motivational afternoon we had on Saturday 20th August at The Young Entrepreneurs graduation event held at The Cumberland Hotel in Harrrow.
We were honoured to have been invited to the event and to present certificates to the graduates.
It was the first Young Entrepreneurs graduation programme which was a platform for 9 young people aged between 18-24 to present their business ideas in a Dragons Den style to show what they have learned during their seven week business learning and mentoring sessions to the wider community audience and invited guests of entrepreneurs, community leaders, business owners and family and friends.
Included in the line up of Dragons judging was the Deputy Mayor of Harrow, Cllr Nizam Ismail.
The Young Entrepreneurs Programme is an initiative of Ghanian Londoners Network and is funded by The Big Lottery Fund, with support from Harrow Council, Oakam, Phase One Network and Starting Point.
During the afternoon their was a special guest speaker Frederic Nze, CEO of Oakam. He spoke about his experiences starting a business and the qualities needed to build and run a successful business. There were some great tips for the young entrepreneurs.
The winner on the day was Andrew Larnyoh who had the great business idea of a taxi service in Ghana which you call up and have turn up at your home instead of, as Andrew put it, 'stand at the side of the road with my hand out, making a particular sound with my mouth to attract the attention of a taxi.'
None of this would have been possible without the hard work and dedication of the founder of GL Network Adwoa Agyemang.
All the graduates gave a great presentation and we are sure they will go on to be very successful.
