It is hard to imagine Hastings without the White Rock Theatre. The building has hosted live entertainment serving locals and visitors for since the 1920s, becoming the theatre we know and love today since 1985.
Did you know?
The White Rock Theatre seats 1066 people – chosen to commemorate the Battle of Hastings.
The Theatre is on two levels with stalls and a circle, and has adapted the building to make the theatre as accessible as possible for people in wheelchairs, with guide dogs and with hearing impairments.
Visitors can also explore backstage on tours of groups of 8-30 people free of charge, provided this is organised in advance.
The White Rock is also available to venue hire for corporate events and special occasions.
At the heart of the community
The White Rock Youth Theatre is a chance for children aged from 8-16 to hone their theatrical skills from an early age.
And if your youngest can’t wait to tread the boards, the White Rock Tiddlers is there for 4-7 year olds to give them a feel of drama, dance and music through creative play.
Staff at the White Rock Theatre also actively fundraise to support the Great Ormond Street Hospital. Their fundraising efforts together with the generous contributions of the Theatre’s visitors has raised over £431,000 for the hospital – a huge achievement!
