This national treasure made famous by his illustrations of Roald Dahl’s books, returns to the gallery with his biggest ever UK show.
We all think we know Quentin Blake’s illustrations: quirky characters, dogs with floppy ears, excited children, but this exhibition shows Blake as you’ve never seen him before. Free from the restrictions of illustrating a text, he addresses the issues that concern him, exploring challenging issues from mental health to the refugee crisis.
Although these subjects may be challenging, Blake is far from gloomy in his approach. This exhibition in Hastings is full of that life-enhancing imagination that has inspired both children and adults across four generations.
So, Hastings’ people, come and visit the Jerwood Gallery to hang out with life as seen through the eyes of one of your own!
