East Sussex College (ESC) is one of the biggest Further Education colleges in the South East. ESC was born in March 2018, when Sussex Coast College Hastings merged with Sussex Downs College to create the new college group.

Since then we have been leading the way in a new era of education. We’ve been improving our curriculum to make it even better for our students. We’ve started to align our courses with apprenticeship standards to help young people learn and develop the skills they need to not only find jobs but be ready to hit the ground running in those roles, once they finish college.

We’re proud to offer one of the widest varieties of courses from A-Level subjects, vocational and technical qualifications, apprenticeships, leisure courses, and degrees. We’ve also been chosen by the government to be one of the first colleges in the country to offer the brand new T-Level qualifications from September 2020.

We’re also proud to be part of our local communities. We have campuses to the west in Lewes, Newhaven, and Eastbourne, and have three campuses in Hastings - Station Plaza, Ore Valley, and the Automotive Training Centre. Each community has its own character and charm and we enjoy hosting local events such as gala dinners, political debates and job fairs. We’re also passionate about supporting our local communities too. We work very closely with employers to support their business, providing them with a keen workforce during industry placements and also provide solutions to many of their digital and creative problems thanks to our brand new creative hub. This hub allows businesses to submit live projects for our students to work on. This could be to design and build a new website or provide them with a targeted marketing campaign. It’s real experience for our students and new products for the businesses. It’s a win-win.

We’re also keen volunteers and fundraisers. We take part in lots of community events and help to raise money for lots of local charities. Each campus chooses charity partners and dedicates a whole year of activities to raise money for those organisations. In recent years we have supported St Michael's Hospice which saw students and staff take on several challenges such as abseiling down the side of the Station Plaza building and a 40km trek across the Sahara Desert.

We’re always looking to build relationships with local businesses, so if you’re able to offer our students valuable work experience or you’d like to work with us to host an event, then feel free to get in touch.
