The format was 36 holes medal, played of white tees for the junior boys and off red tees for the junior girls. Lewis Whiting, who plays off a handicap of 2, led the scratch competition following his 3 over par morning round. He went onto card a superb 3 under par 67 in the afternoon to claim the overall victory with 73-67=140, and reduced his handicap by a shot to 1. In 2nd place was James Iron with 80+86=166 and in 3rd place was Ben Bradnam with 88+84+172. In the handicap competition Ben Bradnam, who plays off a handicap of 20, and James Iron, who plays off a handicap of 12 were joint leaders following their morning rounds, both with a nett 68. However Ben Bradnam went onto card an impressive nett 64 to claim the handicap trophy with a total of 68+64=132, and reduced his handicap by 2 shots to 18. Lewis Whiting finished in 2nd place with 71+65=136 and James Iron in 3rd place with 68+74=142.
A field of 64 golfers took part in the Woodlands Cup played on Sunday 20th September. The event format was pairs better ball stableford, played off 7/8ths handicap with a handicap limit of 18. John Kennedy and Paul Bartlett just had the edge to win on count back with an excellent score of 47pts. The runners up were Peter Amies and Neil Farenden with 47pts and in 3rd place were Dave Spittle and John Young with 45pts.
Haverhill Ladies competed for the Fraser Plate on Wednesday 23rd and Saturday 26th September. The winner of the midweek competition was Denise Walker with 33pts, in 2nd place was Siobhan Harrison with 31pts and in 3rd place Gerry Wheatley with 29pts on count back. The Saturday competition on 26th September was won by Julie Donno with 36pts, in 2nd place was Jenni Bradnam with 33pts and in 3rd place was Pat Kennedy with 30pts. The overall winner of the two competitions combined was Julie Donno, to claim the Fraser Plate.
The Men's IFF Challenge was played on Wednesday 23rd September. Some commendable scores were returned and the overall winner with a score of 42pts was Andy Gage, who has trimmed his handicap by a shot to 10. The full results were: Division One: 1st place Andy Gage 42pts, 2nd place Terry Lyons 38pts, 3rd place Lyndon Brown 37pts on count back. Division Two: 1st place Mick Dalena 38pts, 2nd place Mark Firman 37pts on count back, 3rd place Greg Kingston 37pts on count back. Division 3: 1st place Stan Goodall 41pts, 2nd place Mick Couzins 38pts, 3rd place Dick Sisman 37pts.
The Medal and M Rayner Cup was contested on Sunday 27th September, with a field of 74 taking part in the medal event. Frazer Curl carded a superb round of 75-12-63 to claim the overall victory and slashed his handicap by 3 shots to 9 under exceptional score reduction. Gary Cowley received a 2 shot cut also under ESR from 15 to 13. The full results were: Division One: 1st place Frazer Curl 75-12-63, 2nd place Neil Farlie 76-9-67, 3rd place Matthew Farlie 77-5-72. Division Two: 1st place Gary Cowley 80-15-65, 2nd place Joe Davis 85-17-68 on count back, 3rd place Ciaran Brennan 81-13-68. Division Three: 1st place Graham Hepworth 92-21-71, 2nd place Terry Archer 94-22-72, 3rd place Chris Gavin 96-23-73 on count back.
