Haverhill’s Buy Local week is well under way, and it is heartening to see so many local people visiting thebestof Haverhill to pledge their support for our independent businesses (with each one being entered into the daily prize draw with a prize of £100 to spend with one of our businesses).   

Let’s keep this momentum going, while at the same time finding something dad will really appreciate for Father’s Day.

Novelty mugs, Homer Simpson slippers, singing fish and comedy socks… dad has seen them all, and has accepted them with a forced smile whilst secretly wondering if he’ll ever get something remotely useful or enjoyable any Fathers Day soon.  So this year why not ‘think outside the box’ a little and present him with something that might not be the norm? It may not be in the slightest bit ‘amusing’ but will most certainly be genuinely appreciated.

Let’s bear one thing in mind, come June 12th, the 2014 World Cup will be underway, a fact which should be borne in mind if dad is of that persuasion.  If my investigations are correct, England’s first match (against Italy no less!) kicks off at 11.00pm on Saturday 14th June.  Father’s Day itself, Sunday 15th June, sees France vs Honduras at 8.00pm and Argentina vs Bos-Herce (who?!) at 11.00pm.

I mention this purely because if you were thinking of dining out, then obviously this schedule may need to be taken into consideration.
