The bestof Haverhill will hold its next business meeting on Thursday 18th September from 10.00am -11.30am at The Days Inn Haverhill.
Local businesses and organisations are invited to attend the free monthly networking event with guest speaker Howard Lay.
Howard is the Executive Principal of Samuel Ward Academy and Chief Executive of the Samuel Ward Trust. He will talk about the significant changes that are taking place in education at a national level and what they mean for employers. Howard will also provide an insight into the structure and work of the Samuel Ward Academy Trust and the Suffolk Borders Teaching Alliance and the impact that these initiatives are having on education at a local level.
Elaine Carr, owner of thebestof Haverhill comments, “There are so many changes going on in education at the moment, I don’t know how the schools keep up with it all! There’s the exam reforms; changes to the curriculum and performance measurements and the Raising of the Participation Age (making it compulsory for young people to stay in education or training until the age of 18). These changes are going to have an impact on the young people who are going to be our workforce of the future.
There is also a lot of change happening locally and the Samuel Ward Trust and the Suffolk Borders Teaching Alliance are excellent examples of schools working together to raise standards of education in Suffolk. I am delighted that Howard has accepted the invitation to provide an update at our meeting and hope that the business community will be interested to find out what he has to say.”
